AB RUST® FP

VERNIS

AB RUST®FP is specifically designed to protect metal in contact with water based formulations.

AB RUST®FP is a ready to use aqueous solution made of organic based corrosion inhibitors.

AB RUST®FP is VOC* free, nitrite free and European Ecolabel* compliant.

The sustainable alternative with additives formulated from plant-based bases

Applications - Dosage

AB RUST®FP is mainly recommended for:

  • flash-rust protection of water based paints and varnishes based on acrylic, styrene-acrylic, alkyd, epoxy, polyurethane dispersions or emulsions
  • in-can protection for metal packaging filled with above products

AB RUST®FP must be added preferentially in the letdown, before the rheological agents. The use in post-addition is also a possible option. The use levels are:

  • typically, from 0.5 to 1% based on the total weight

There is no advantage to use higher levels. On the contrary, a too high dosage can increase the water sensitivity of the dry film.

Characteristics

Aspect: yellow liquid
Density: 1.09 – 1.19 at 20°C
pH: 7.8 – 8.8 at 20°C
Solubility: Water soluble in all proportions

AB RUST®FP can release an odour specific to its composition, even in the dry film, for a prolonged period of time.

Storage - Shelf-life

AB RUST®FP is frost sensitive. It must be kept at temperature above 0°C. It is recommended to use AB RUST®FP within 2 years following its manufacture (see the expiration date on the label).

Labeling

AB RUST®FP is not classified according to the Regulation EC N°1272/2008. For further information, please consult the MSDS.

Regulatory information

AB RUST®FP components are registered on the following inventories: EINECS (Europe), ENCS and ISHL (Japan), KECI (South Korea), TCSI (Taiwan).

Comments

AB RUST®FP is active on steels, galvanized steels, aluminum.

AB RUST®FP is recommended for wood coatings. Its amine free formulation is an advantage to avoid the yellowing on the wood.
