High performance

AB RUST®NFP is specifically designed to protect metal in contact with water based formulations.

AB RUST®NFP is a ready to use aqueous solution made of organic based corrosion inhibitors.

AB RUST®NFP is VOC* free, nitrite free and European Ecolabel* compliant.

The sustainable alternative with additives formulated from plant-based bases

Applications - Dosage

AB RUST®NFP is mainly recommended for:

  • flash-rust protection of water based anticorrosive primers, paints and varnishes based on acrylic, styrene-acrylic, alkyd, epoxy, polyurethane dispersions or emulsions
  • in-can protection for metal packaging filled with above products

AB RUST®NFP must be added preferentially in the letdown, before the rheological agents. The use in post-addition is also a possible option. The use levels are:

  • typically, from 0.5 to 1% based on the total weight
  • exceptionally, for sensitive metal substrates, 1.5 to 2% based on the total weight

There is no advantage to use higher levels. On the contrary, a too high dosage can increase the water sensitivity of the dry film.

Aspect: yellow liquid
Density: 1.02 – 1.12 at 20°C
pH: 7.9 – 8.5 at 20°C
Solubility: Water soluble in all proportions

AB RUST®NFP can release an odour specific to its composition, even in the dry film, for a prolonged period of time.

Storage - Shelf-life

AB RUST®NFP is frost sensitive. It must be kept at temperature above 0°C. It is recommended to use AB RUST®NFP within 2 years following its manufacture (see the expiration date on the label).

AB RUST®NFP is classified in category 1 «Irreversible effects on the eye». For further information, please consult the MSDS.

Regulatory information

AB RUST®NFP components are registered on the following inventories: EINECS (Europe), ENCS and ISHL (Japan), TCSI (Taiwan).

AB RUST®NFP is active on steels, galvanized steels, aluminum.

AB RUST®NFP formulation has been adapted in order to have every components listed on the TSCA (USA) and DSL/NDSL (Canada) inventories.
